Sunflowers Greeting Card
Pack Size

Design:

Edwin had many influences but it was the Impressionists that were most represented on his bookshelf and in his art.

He had a particular fondness for Van Gogh and I recall him displaying prints in our home prior to Dad becoming an artist himself.

There is a definite homage to Van Gogh here in Edwin’s own ‘Sunflowers.’ A wonderful still life that captures both his love of nature, the impermanence of flora and fauna and his respect for the Great Master.

Father had his own struggles in later life as dementia blurred his understanding of reality and own perceptions. I often think of Father when I listen to ‘Vincent’ by Don McLean. The bold strokes and vibrant colours make it my wife’s favourite.
